The holidays are a great time for festive songs, food and family, and we hope you’re enjoying all three this season. We surveyed our lovely staff to see how they celebrate, and their answers were great all-around. Find out what the members of the Mt. Auburn family are up to this time of year!

Turn Up the Stereo

We have a wide array of musical preferences, which made for diverse list of favorite holiday tunes. Some responses went with choral classics, like “O Holy Night,” “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” while other employees preferred the upbeat pop of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” and “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by N’Sync. Of course, “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland” and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” were highlighted, too.

Grab A Plate

Both Christine Siciliano and Chelsea Saleh appreciate a good sweet potato casserole at their gatherings, and Melodie Thiel looks forward to Christmas breakfast with grits and country ham. Amber King, Beth Senft and Lisa Fisher all love Christmas cookies, while Chelsea makes these sweet treats as gifts for family and friends with her mom. Nicole Baumann opts for fudge, and Melodie kicks back with a glass of good wine.

Enjoy the Queen City

Many of our employees have annual events around Cincinnati that they look forward to, like attending the manger scene in Lockland. Ellen Nolen goes each year with her children, and now grandchildren, to feed the donkey and sheep while celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Nicole skates under the lights on Fountain Square, and Amber walks the PNC Festival of Lights at the zoo. Melodie watches the tree lighting downtown, while Chelsea gets in the spirit at the Holiday Junction at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Beth Senft supports the Boy Scouts by purchasing one of their Christmas trees, and Christine takes the family to The Christmas Ranch, featuring over one million lights!

Settle in for Family Time

While being out and about is a fun way to take in the holiday experience, the time spent at home with loved ones is really special. Everyone has his or her own way of making these get togethers special, and our fun-loving employees are no different. Lisa plays games with her mom, dad and sister’s family on Christmas Eve. Nicole and her family dress up in matching pajamas. Beth replaces her name on the presents she gives with the name of someone from the recipient’s life, like an old teacher from school, to make for a fun surprise. Amber mixes a game with a gifting tradition by passing around a small gift wrapped in plastic wrap and wrapping paper while participants try to unwrap it using oven mitts. The one to get it fully unwrapped wins the gift.

By asking around we learned a lot about how festive the staff at Mt. Auburn is, and we hope our holiday favorites have you excited for the season. No matter what you’re celebrating, we wish you a season filled with happy memories and great times with loved ones. See you in 2018!
